I'm a high school special educator, consultant and personal trainer passionate about helping others meet their professional, academic and fitness goals. My fees are negotiable for groups serving people in poverty and I build experiences based on what people want to learn.
Employers, teachers, and motivated individuals can improve the productivity and authenticity of people's interactions by investing time and energy into fostering dialogue. While online tools such as riseguide.com offer self-directed steps for improved communication, participating in the Seeds of Peace Global Dialogue Lab at the African Leadership Academy in August 2026 deepened my perspective:
the art and science of improved communication, and particularly the use of dialogue, must be practiced over time in real life, tailored to each hyperlocal culture.
The five-minute video explainer below can be paused and replayed to jump-start an introduction to dialogue. Email me at kjmurray4@gmail.com to schedule a time to discuss how you or your group can refine communication to better reach your goals.
Overview:
Outcomes (2), Reflections (4) Future self writing (5) Future self acting (5)Fish Bowl (12)Outcome: (2 minutes) To broaden my sources of inner support and encouragement, I can imagine in detail by writing and speaking like an actor, a healthy, happy, wealthy and fulfilling future I seek.
Assumptions:
1) Multiple forces amplify my hypocrisy, loss, sadness, anger, etc.
2) The Other Force may be god, goodness, nature or my cat; it stands at the ready to hold, coach and supply me with unlimited greatness.
3) Thinking alone doesn’t get me from 1) to 2).
4) The Other Force works better when I progress on cleaning up “my mess”.
5) Over time and practice, my inner dialogue with an unrealistically optimistic view of my future self will quicken/ deepen chances I will live the future I seek.
Reflection (4 minutes) In your notebook, brieflty write out the answers to 1-6
What typically happens on a day that is too busy?
When I find myself at the end of a not so great day, I often feel _1_. Consciously or not, I am likely to blame _2_ and _3_ for my not so great day. When I rebound the next day, it's usually because I took care of myself by doing _4_. I measure success when I bounce back by small improvements in _5_. Or, I am often so busy with tomorrow’s stress I rarely reflect on yesterday’s struggle and I repeat the mood. A not helpful voice in my head says, “_6_”.
What waters and/or losses lie beneath in your subconscious and how do they hold you back?
When powerful events happen, I notice I make things worse because I try to protect myself from losing stability, identity or belonging. A repeated story comes up that claims something is wrong with me. Specifically I say _7_ to or about myself. I will also do (or stop doing) things that, in the long run make things worse such as _8_ . I may act out to my people by being _9_ (ex: victim, hero, savior, passive or directly aggressive)
Superpowers of my Future Self (6 minutes)
In your notebook answer the questions in this paragraph:
Write about your success as though it has already happened. A few years from now, dozens of major journalists want to interview you. You accept. Trust, pretend, invent or imagine details to answer the following questions they ask you: how did you do it, how did you not give up, over 90% of organizations struggle or fail, how did your work outperform, what tips do you have, what motivated you?
Walk the walk & talk the talk (6 minutes)
With your facilitation partner, walk and talk to pretend/act out loud answers to any of the questions you just wrote about. Stay in character as two fulfilled future versions of yourself taking turns catching up. Share the airtime like healthy aware adults would.
Questions I’ll ask:
-Was it easier to describe a kind of bad day than a future you seek? Why?
-What resistance, loss came up at any point?
-Co creating is a new age trope. Did this feel like a gimmick or why was it useful?
-How could you adjust this to make it yours?
-Could you use this as Social Emotional Learning assignment for your students?
My Future Self & my sources of support (2 minutes)
Knowing what doubts often have us from time to time, write a sentence of encouragement for you to explore your super powered future self or another creative self-directed support with the right people in your circle.
